Since January 2017, there is a possibility to apply for a start-up visa in Estonia. Such visa for engagement in a start-up business is issued if the stay of an
foreigner (non-EU
citizen) in
Estonia is required for the
foundation or development of a start-up company in Estonia.
In order to qualify for the start-up visa, the start-up company must fill in an application detailing their business and team, which will be evaluated by a Start-up Committee consisting of members of the Estonian start-up community. In case of a positive decision, the founders will have a choice between applying for a one-year visa with the option of extending it for another year, or a permit for a start-up entrepreneurship for five years.
The start-up visa gives foreign entrepreneurs the opportunity to settle in Estonia for up to 18 months to establish their start-up. A start-up visa may be issued for up to one year and extended for up to 6 months
